After moving to Tree Town, Marble founded a recreational cooking school, Ann Arbor Cooks, in 2009 after owning her own catering company in Washington, D.C. She brings 20 years of culinary experience to her virtual classes with Rec & Ed. Community members who enroll in three classes in one registration will receive a discount of $10 off of their total, Rec & Ed said. Registration is now open and can be done through the Rec & Ed website. Community members can sign up for weight training, cardio dance and pilates, Zumba, cardio drumming and belly dance classes. Therapeutic yoga, chair yoga, yoga flow and Iyengar Yoga classes will also be offered in the mini-term format. Mini-term classes only meet for two to four weeks, a significantly shorter weekly time commitment than Rec & Ed’s other classes. Between Sept. 13-19, Ann Arbor Public Schools Community Education and Recreation is offering free one-time classes for community members to sample. Moving your body in new ways improves muscle memory, balance, and cognitive recognition, Terry McNeely, Rec & Ed fitness and yoga program supervisor said in a news release. In April, Rec & Ed translated some of its in-person fitness and enrichment classes into a digital format so as to meet community needs for virtual courses. Find out more about Rec & Ed classes here.
