The group returned to the show after finishing second in season 14, but now they’re headed to the finals after a performance that brought one judge to tears.

We’ve seen the Detroit Youth Choir (DYC) rise to the top during their appearance on “America’s Got Talent”, and with many new opportunities that have opened up for them since then. Now the choir is returning to the national stage.

The DYC is keeping their talent and legacy going.

The Detroit Youth Choir will soon take the stage in New York City.

Many of you have been following the Detroit Youth Choir since they wowed the audiences of America’s Got Talent. The group has a new music video as part of Life Remodeled’s Lean on We campaign.

They made Detroit proud with their nationally televised performances on “America’s Got Talent” and we all cheered them on after getting the golden buzzer. Now there’s another chance to show our support for the Detroit Youth Choir (DYC) in a big way as they celebrate 25 years of making a difference in the D through music.

The choir was nominated after it succeeded in the public voting round for the award nomination, which ended April 1.

It’s been two years since Terry Crews hit the golden buzzer and launched the Detroit Youth Choir on a journey that won them the hearts of many on “America’s Got Talent.”

Today on Music Monday, Live In The D got to celebrate a special collaboration. The Detroit Youth Choir (DYC) worked on a new song with music producer, Jermaine Dupri. Dupri has worked with everyone from Mariah Carey to Jay-Z and more. White says when Dupri reached out, the kids were over the moon to learn they were going to work with him on a song. DETROIT – The children of the Detroit Youth Choir have captured the hearts of millions on “America’s Got Talent” -- and now they have the attention of a production company who wants to highlight their journey. Following the Detroit Youth Choir’s run on NBC’s “America’s Got Talent," a production company is interested in portraying the group’s rise to fame in a new documentary TV series, or docu-series. Amid the coronavirus pandemic, the talented performers of the Detroit Youth Choir have continued to safely rehearse. Unfortunately, though, the pandemic has directly affected the Detroit Youth Choir family. “The Detroit youth choir has really brought back Motown,” White said.

DETROIT – After the Detroit Youth Choir earned second place on NBC’s “America’s Got Talent (AGT),” the group is on the verge of hitting a new level of fame. Now the group is being considered for a Grammy for their rendition of the song “Glory" -- an Oscar-winning song from the 2014 movie “Selma.”“The production company sent me an email saying, 'Congratulations, you guys are considered for a Grammy for the re-imagination of ‘Glory’," said Anthony White with the Detroit Youth Choir. One year ago, the Detroit Youth Choir finished in second place, and this year, the choir returned for an encore performance. The choir prerecorded its performance in Detroit instead of live in Los Angeles because of COVID-19 restrictions and changes to the show. White says Detroit Youth Choir is now made up of three different choirs, developing at different levels. It was established at the Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan, providing support to the Detroit Youth Choir in perpetuity. Shyel White said being a part of the Detroit Youth Choir improved her self-confidence.
