ROYAL OAK, Mich. – A 34-year-old man has been charged for felonious assault after pointing a rifle at a police officer, police say. In an attempt to speak to the man, an officer approached Moss’ front porch and rang the doorbell. Moss reportedly appeared behind the door pointing a rifle at the officer while demanding to know why they were at his home.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Roger Lee Pierce Jr., a 50-year-old man from Howell, was arraigned Saturday in connection with a Pittsfield Township homicide and a shooting in Ypsilanti. Police said they found the body of Marcus McMullan, a 39-year-old man from Ypsilanti, with a gunshot wound to the head. Police, joined by officers with the Detroit DEA office and Michigan State Police, took Pierce into custody on an arrest warrant for felonious assault. Police said during the interview with Pierce, additional search warrants led to charges being authorized for open murder and six other firearm related counts. Pierce was arraigned Saturday and is being held without bond.

DETROIT – A 43-year-old man is facing several charges for allegedly shooting and killing a woman, whose body was found in a Detroit alley in November. John Baldwin, of Detroit, was charged on Nov. 28 in connection with the homicide of Sarita Rebekah Neal, 41, also from Detroit. John E. Officials said the woman was transported to a medical examiner, who determined Neal died from a single gunshot wound to the head. Officials say Baldwin allegedly fatally shot the victim, transported her remains to the Detroit alley in a car and later set that car on fire at another location.

DETROIT – A 22-year-old Detroit man has been charged with fatally shooting a 16-year-old girl during an alleged argument on Sunday. Officials say an argument arose when Reeves arrived at the residence to pick up his daughter from her mother. Officials say the victim was the step-sister of the child’s mother. Reeves reportedly fled the scene following the shooting, but was later apprehended by Detroit police. A 32-year-old woman was also arrested on Monday in connection with the shooting, though it is unclear what her role in the incident was.

ROMULUS, Mich. – At least one of the two people Michigan State Police have in custody in connection with the death of Egypt Covington was arraigned Sunday. According to authorities, Timothy Eugene Moore, a 34-year-old man from Toledo, was arraigned Sunday afternoon on one count of homicide at the 34th District Court in Romulus. Covington, 27, was shot and killed inside her Van Buren Township home on June 23, 2017. When her body was found, her hands were bound with Christmas lights and she had been shot in the head. WATERFORD TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A man accused of being drunk and driving recklessly at the time of a four-car crash that killed a 6-year-old girl and injured her parents in Waterford Township is facing five charges. The scene of an Oct. 14, 2020, crash at Highland and Airport roads in Waterford Township. The Waterford Township man driving the Equinox and his 6-year-old daughter were transported to a nearby hospital, authorities said. The woman driving the Fusion was the mother of the 6-year-old and wife of the man in the Equinox, police said. A vehicle involved in an Oct. 14, 2020, crash at Highland and Airport roads in Waterford Township.

According to police, on April 30 at around 2:15 a.m. dispatch received several 911 calls about shots being fired in the 300 block of West Bennett in Ferndale. When officers arrived to the scene they discovered a 19-year-old Ferndale woman who had been shot several times. Ferndale detectives spent several months investigating this incident and compiling evidence. Physical evidence linked the case to another shooting that happened in West Bloomfield on June 17, where an arrest was made. Ferndale detectives were able to identify the same suspect was responsible in the Ferndale shooting.

DETROIT – The Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office announced Wednesday former Michigan state Sen. Virgil Smith Jr. pleaded guilty to a felony and a misdemeanor charge. According to authorities, Smith pleaded guilty to the felony charge of malicious destruction of property over $20,000 or more, and the misdemeanor charge of reckless discharge of a firearm. Smith accused Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy of vindictive prosecution in 2019 after an earlier guilty plea was changed. RELATED: Former Michigan state Sen. The other charges Smith was arraigned on -- felonious assault, domestic violence assault and battery and felony firearm -- were dismissed as a part of the plea.

The suspect in a quadruple homicide in Sumpter Township has been charged with first-degree murder on Wednesday. Raymond Lee Bailey, 37, of Kinross, Michigan, is facing four counts of first-degree murder and four counts of felony firearm in the killing of four people over the weekend. At about 12:30 p.m. Saturday, police responded to the homicide scene in the 24000 block of Martinsville in Sumpter Township. The four victims shot and killed by a handgun have been identified as: Laura Tanner, 35, and her sister Sarah Grupa, 38, of Detroit; Forrest Sampson, 28 and Neil Sampson, 31, of Van Buren Township. Detectives then identified Bailey, the ex-boyfriend of one of the deceased women, as a possible suspect.

DETROIT – On Sunday, 19-year-old Wayne resident Robert Shoats was arraigned in connection with the shooting death of 18-year-old Kaleb Parish. Shoats was arraigned on charges of discharge in a building causing serious impairment and felony firearm. According to police, the shooting happened on Wednesday at around 6:02 p.m. in the 34000 block of Richard Street in Wayne. Parish died of his injuries from the shooting on Friday. These court hearings will be held at the 29th District Court in Wayne.

WARREN, Mich. – A verbal altercation between a Warren resident and vehicle passenger last week become fatal, Warren police say. Officers found 30-year-old Warren resident James Russell Harbaugh, severely injured lying in the street. A passenger in that vehicle exited and physically assaulted Harbaugh after what appeared to be a verbal altercation. Harbaugh stood in the street after the passenger re-entered the vehicle. Prosecutor William Cataldo authorized charges for homicide-first degree, failure to stop at scene of accident causing death, lying to a police officer during a violent crime investigation, and DWLS 2nd offense.
