Ford is recalling nearly 200,000 large SUVs because the heating and cooling fan motors can fail and catch fire.

DETROIT – The company that makes heavy-duty diesel Ram trucks is telling some owners to park them outdoors due to the risk of an engine fire. Fiat Chrysler, now part of Stellantis, is recalling just over 20,000 of the trucks mainly in the U.S. and Canada. The company says the 2021 pickup and chassis cab trucks have heater electrical relays that can short, overheat and in rare cases cause fires. None involved customer vehicles. The recalled trucks are equipped with 6.7-liter Cummins diesel engines.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says it has 11 complaints that a recall of power tailgates on 300,000 Super Duty pickups failed to rectify the issue. The agency says it also has received reports from Ford about unintended tailgate openings after the recall repairs were made. Ford recalled the F-250, F-350 and F-450 trucks in 2019 because the power tailgates could open while being driven.

DETROIT – Ford is recalling more than 700,000 vehicles in North America because the backup cameras can show distorted images or suddenly go dark. The recall covers most 2020 versions of Ford's F-Series trucks, as well as the 2020 Explorer, Mustang, Transit, Expedition, Escape, Ranger and Edge. F-Series trucks are the top-selling vehicle in the U.S. The company says in documents posted Wednesday by the U.S. government's National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that a poor electrical connection is causing the problem. Ford says it doesn’t know of any crashes or injuries caused by the problem.

WASHINGTON (AP) Korean automakers Hyundai and Kia are recalling over 600,000 vehicles in the U.S. and Canada to fix a brake fluid leak that could cause engine fires. In company documents posted Thursday by U.S. safety regulators, Hyundai said it had 15 reports of engine fires caused by the fluid leaks, while Kia said it had eight. The company said it monitors safety concerns, including non-collision fires and acts swiftly to recall any vehicles with safety related defects.In April of 2019, NHTSA opened two new investigations into fires involving Hyundai and Kia vehicles after getting complaints of more than 3,100 fires and 103 injuries. The investigations, one for Hyundai and the other for Kia, cover non-crash fires in almost 3 million vehicles from the affiliated automakers. NHTSA had previously said it would incorporate the noncrash fires into a 2017 investigation that examined recalls of Hyundai and Kia vehicles for engine failures.

Ford is recalling more than 558,000 midsize SUVs in North America because the brakes may not work properly. Ford said Wednesday that some front brake hoses can rupture, causing brake fluid to leak. If too much fluid leaks, it could take more effort to stop the vehicle, and stopping distances could increase. Drivers should see a brake warning light on the dashboard if the fluid gets too low. Dealers will replace the front brake jounce hoses with new ones with a different design.

The largest recall covers nearly 608,000 Odysseys from 2018 to 2020, the 2019 and 2020 Passport and the 2019 through 2021 Pilot. Dealers will reprogram the software starting Sept. 23. Another recall covers almost a half-million Odysseys and Passports from 2019 and 2020 and Pilots from 2019 through 2021. Dealers will replace the sliding door outer handle cables starting Sept. 23. Honda will replace the rearview camera at no cost starting Sept. 23.

The door latch recall covers more than 2.1 million cars, SUVs and vans in the U.S. The recall covers vehicles in the U.S. and includes the 2012 to 2015 Ford Focus, the 2013 to 2014 Ford Fusion, the 2011 to 2014 Ford Fiesta, and the 2013 to 2015 Ford Escape and C-Max. Also covered are the 2013 and 2014 Lincoln MKZ, the 2015 Lincoln MKC, the 2015 Ford Mustang and the 2014 to 2016 Ford Transit Connect van. The brake fluid recall covers certain 2014 through 2017 F-150s in the U.S. and Canada.
