Michigan State Police are investigating a shooting that happened during an attempted robbery Saturday night. According to authorities, it happened just before 11 p.m. in the 28000 block of Glennwood Street in Inkster, near Inkster Road and Avondale Street. Police said someone pulled a gun on a driver in an attempt to rob people in a truck. Police said the suspect fired at least two shots at the vehicle, hitting only the driver. State troopers are still looking for the culprit.

An innocent bystander with a concealed pistol license then walked up and the shooter ran away. Police said several people were detained in a different area of the city, and a weapon was retrieved.

The driver, however, was covered in blood and offered to give him money so he wouldn’t call police, the homeowner said. The driver then fled the area on foot.

The people walked down a block in the area of west Inkster Road and Avondale Street at about 1 a.m., checking car doors to see if they were locked. Police reminded residents to lock their vehicles and make a report if someone has broken into their car.
