Michigan State Police are investigating a shooting that happened during an attempted robbery Saturday night. According to authorities, it happened just before 11 p.m. in the 28000 block of Glennwood Street in Inkster, near Inkster Road and Avondale Street. Police said someone pulled a gun on a driver in an attempt to rob people in a truck. Police said the suspect fired at least two shots at the vehicle, hitting only the driver. State troopers are still looking for the culprit.

Police said the 33-year-old victim was walking into Leon’s Party Store on Inkster Road, just south of Avondale Street, before noon when a man walked up and started arguing with him. An innocent bystander with a concealed pistol license then walked up and the shooter ran away. Police said several people were detained in a different area of the city, and a weapon was retrieved.

The driver, however, was covered in blood and offered to give him money so he wouldn’t call police, the homeowner said. The driver then fled the area on foot.
