According to police, a man and woman have barricaded themselves inside a home near Schaefer Highway and Vassar Drive in Detroit.

Police added he was heavily armed, wearing body armor and barricaded himself inside the Royal Oak residence. DETROIT – Police said a man who was holding two children hostage inside a home on Detroit’s west side surrendered Sunday. Authorities blocked off the surrounding area while hostage negotiation and special response teams tried talking the man out of the home. Police said a handgun was recovered and the man was taken into custody. Detroit Police Commander Darin Szilegi said the children didn’t know the extent of the danger they were in. DETROIT – Police have taken four people into custody on Wednesday afternoon following a barricaded gunman situation that occurred on Detroit’s east side. Detroit police say four people were inside a home with a barricaded gunman in the area of Wilshire Drive and Newport Street, near Outer Drive and Chalmers Street on Dec. 16. The situation has resolved as of 4:18 p.m. Wednesday, officials say. The four individuals inside the home have been taken into custody for questioning, police said. No additional details have been provided at this time.

DETROIT – A barricaded gunman situation ended in northwest Detroit Thursday after the suspect surrendered. Detroit police surrounded a home on Coyle Street near West Chicago and Greenfield Road. Police said a 24-year-old man allegedly fired a shot at a 19-year-old woman and her sister after an argument over childcare money. Police said the suspect then barricaded himself. The man eventually surrendered after police played a recording of his mother pleading for him to come out.

DETROIT – Police are investigating whether a man who died after being dropped off at a hospital is connected to a barricaded gunman situation that occurred early Friday morning. Detroit police say at about 12:40 a.m. officers responded to a report of multiple shots fired in the area of Schoenherr and Pfent streets. Upon arriving, officers discovered several shell casings in front of the home and on the front porch of the home in question. Officials say that during their investigation, police received another call about a 22-year-old man who was dropped off at a hospital and died soon after. Police are investigating whether or not the barricaded situation is connected to the 22-year-old man who was dropped off at the hospital around the same time.

DETROIT – One man has been arrested Thursday night following a barricaded gunman situation on Detroit’s west side. The incident occurred on West Forest Avenue near Trumbull. Police responded to a domestic violence call, and a 30-year-old man was armed with a gun threatening to harm others and himself. Officials say a domestic situation at a residence in the area of Lexington and Norfolk resulted in the gunman pointing a firearm at another individual. DETROIT – Police are investigating after a domestic incident ended with a barricaded gunman being taken into custody on Detroit’s east side. The initial shooting was reported at 5:30 a.m. Tuesday morning in the area of Casino Avenue and Duchess Street. The first officers on scene approached the house and heard gunfire. When they got closer to the house they heard gunfire outside. This led to the 27th barricaded gunman incident in 2022 across Detroit.

SUPERIOR TOWNSHIP, Mich. – What started as a fight between neighbors ended with a Washtenaw County Sheriff’s deputy shot and the suspected gunman dead. Early signs show the man died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office announced Thursday morning. Before all the chaos started Wednesday at an apartment complex in Superior Township, Dakota Turner was unknowingly right there with the gunman. “I’m going around and I see this guy and he’s got a really like mean stare on his face,” recalled Turner. Turner was working his landscaping job in the neighborhood and thought offering this strange man some help was the right thing to do.

SUPERIOR TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A gunman was found dead inside a Superior Township home Wednesday night hours after a Washtenaw County deputy was shot Superior Township, putting an end to a nine-hour standoff. Washtenaw County Sheriff Jerry Clayton could not confirm how the man died. The gunman was identified by a member of the condo board of directors as Nathan Hardenburg. A man said he and his son were handling lawn care when they encountered the shooter. The man, like other residents, was forced to stay inside for hours.

SUPERIOR TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A Washtenaw County deputy has been shot at an active police scene in on Wednesday afternoon, according to authorities. Law enforcement have surrounded a home in Superior Township after responding to a report of shots being fired between neighbors, officials said. Shortly after officers arrived on scene, the suspect in question fired shots at the officers -- striking a deputy. Members of the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, Ann Arbor Police Department and Washtenaw County Metro SWAT Team are currently at the scene. Officials say a crisis negotiation team is working at the scene.

NOVI, Mich. A barricaded gunman situation has come to a peaceful resolution on Thursday afternoon, according to authorities. Officials say beginning at about 5 a.m. a 44-year-old man barricaded himself inside a Country Cousin mobile home after his mother called police saying she wanted to get him into rehab. Police knocked on the door of the home off Haggerty Road near Twelve Mile Road when they heard a shot fired inside. By about 1:40 p.m. Novi police were able to talk the man into exiting the home. Police say no one was injured during the incident.
