ROMULUS, Mich. – A gas station clerk in Romulus was nearly killed in a brutal beating, but she’s alive to tell her story because of her quick thinking. She was taking a quick smoke break when he came back. “There was blood splattered all over the ceiling, the walls, everywhere, he hit me in the head with the hammer so many times,” Wood said. He started taking her to the back of the store, toward the dumpster outside. He didn’t leave the scene -- but the phone sitting on the counter led police to the gas station.

LIVONIA, Mich. – Robbers used a shotgun to beat a 7-Eleven clerk during a robbery early Wednesday in Livonia. The clerk was working at the store at 7 Mile and Inkster roads just after 1 a.m. when two men wearing masked rushed him. The clerk said the men asked him if he wanted to die and told him to open the store’s safe. The clerk does not have access to the safe, so the men continued to beat him. “I got busted on the side of the head," the clerk told the 911 dispatcher.
