Blake Griffin has announced his retirement after a 14-year career that included six All-Star selections, Rookie of the Year honors and a dunk contest victory.

An Oklahoma death row inmate scheduled to be executed in September for the 1996 killing of a University of Oklahoma dance student says he plans to reject his chance for a clemency hearing.

A person familiar with the deal tells The Associated Press that veteran big man Blake Griffin has agreed to a contract with the Boston Celtics.

Kevin Durant returned from a 23-game absence to spark Brooklyn’s most explosive half of the season, finishing with 17 points and perfect shooting in the Nets’ 139-111 rout of the New Orleans Pelicans.

Kyrie Irving scored 40 points, Jeff Green made two free throws with 3.7 seconds left and the Brooklyn Nets overcome the early loss of James Harden to beat the New York Knicks 114-112.

The 22-year-old Diallo is averaging a career-best 11.9 points this season. It's another step in a drastic roster overhaul for Detroit under new general manager Troy Weaver, who was previously an executive for the Thunder. USA Basketball is a step closer to choosing the team that will play in this summer’s rescheduled Tokyo Olympics, releasing the names Thursday of 57 players who are part of the pool to fill the squad. It’s also already drawing major interest from some NBA stars who have yet to taste Olympic gold. USA Basketball will pare the list to a 12-person Olympic team by early summer. 4 Texas' scheduled basketball game at Iowa State on Wednesday night has been postponed. N.C. State announced a cluster of cases associated with Wolfpack athletics on Wednesday, though it didn’t specify which programs were involved. A day later, the ACC announced that the Wolfpack's home men’s basketball game Saturday against Georgia Tech would be postponed. That marked the first home game this season that the Packers played in front of any paying spectators. The Cornhuskers’ home game against Minnesota on Wednesday and game at Iowa next Sunday have been postponed.

DETROIT – If there were any doubt that new general manager Troy Weaver would be willing to shake up the Detroit Pistons, it’s obvious now. Detroit agreed to trade guard Luke Kennard to the Los Angeles Clippers in a deal that brought the No. The trade gave Detroit a third first-round pick. The Pistons received the 16th pick and Trevor Ariza and sent a protected future first-round selection to the Rockets. The Pistons went the international route in the first round last year as well when they took Sekou Doumbouya, a Guinea native who moved to France when he was young.

Griffin, who recently competed at Just for Laughs in Montreal, is featured in Red Bull's digital series "Comedy Cab," where he surprised fans as a cab driver. Some cab riders knew who Griffin was, some didn't and some just couldn't believe it. It's a pretty fun time -- watch it below:

Detroit Pistons star Blake Griffin appeared on the "Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon" on Wednesday night. Griffin told Fallon he's enjoying some time off during the off-season and is actually trying out stand up comedy. He'll be performing at the Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal next week. Griffin told Fallon that post-game interviews make athletes sound dumb because they just exercised for two hours and don't have enough oxygen in their brains.
