Former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick and Bobby Ferguson were denied their request to end their supervised release.

After eights years in prison, Bobby Ferguson is back in Detroit following U.S. District Judge Nancy Edmunds granting his request for a compassionate release.

Bobby Ferguson has been granted early release from prison, according to court documents filed Thursday.

Bobby Ferguson's promise wasn't quite as glittery as Kwame's but his "upside" [as they say in sports] was great. Making matters worse, they did so all the while claiming to be the defenders and the leaders of this once proud and great city. Instead they decided to gamble their great promise on self-dealing on a grand scale. Quite sadly for the residents of a beleaguered city, great promise ends in federal prison. Do no despair for Kwame or Bobby or their families; despair for this once great city so desperate to find rebirth.

Rataj, representing Bobby Ferguson, has been slugging it out daily in federal court. Rataj says waiting for the jury deliberations is worse than the stress of handling the case. "The worst part of the whole case is where we're at now, and that's the waiting game," he said. Prosecutors showed jurors documentation that they claim had been tampered with by Ferguson's team, putting up visual aids in court to show original paperwork compared to what Ferguson's defense team presented. I'm confident that we're going to win," he said.

Witness sheds more light on Kilpatrick's alleged bid rigging

Kwame Kilpatrick's attorney, Jim Thomas, and Bobby Ferguson's attorney, Michael Rataj, were not interested in discussing it with reporters outside court. Rataj attacked the hardest of all, asking "do you want to sit on the jury to finish the job the first jury didn't?" "The judge's logic to this is that even though he has a bias and prejudice against Kwame, it was for a previous case and not this particular case. And he said he could be fair on this particular case.

DETROIT – The long running, highly publicized trial of Detroit Contractor and Kwame Kilpatrick friend Bobby Ferguson is winding down. Bobby Ferguson was wearing a brown pinstripe suit with leather collar and sleeves, white shirt and brown striped tie. He spent nearly two hours laying out the eight count case against Ferguson, Ferguson Construction, XCell Construction [a company Ferguson founded], another company A&F Environmental and two men, co-defendants Michael Woodhouse and Calvin Hall. He said Bobby Ferguson declared every dime he made on his tax returns. He said there is the claim Kwame Kilpatrick intervened to make sure "his buddy Bobby Ferguson got paid!"
