There will be a different set of colleges and universities featured every day.

Meijer opened a store at Eight Mile Road and Woodward Avenue in 2013 and the old Redford High School became a Meijer in 2015, but the east side still had a long trip to the grocery store -- until now. The Rivertown Market is going to be a scaled-down, urban footprint in the greening of Detroit Park on East Jefferson Avenue.

According to the city council president, the sale of the untaxed land will generate $42 million in tax revenue over the next 10 years. Jones and one other city council member reportedly voted against the agreement Tuesday, with six city council members voting in favor. The city of Detroit purchased 142 acres at the site of the former State Fairgrounds in 2018.
