We are in Detroit to learn more about the Buffalo Soldiers. Inside horses and their stables on a piece of land home to the Buffalo Soldiers Heritage Association. “This is an organization that was created locally about 15 years ago,” said James Mills with the Buffalo Soldiers Heritage Association. For Mills, the Buffalo Soldiers Heritage Association is a way to keep African American involvement in past wars alive.

From 1866 to the early 1890's the Buffalo Soldiers served in the Southwest and the Great Plains. Jimmy Mills joined Tati live in the studio to tell us some more information about Buffalo Soldiers Detroit. Mills says that this part of history was never really mentioned until a statue was dedicated to the Buffalo Soldiers.
