Brightly-lit tall buildings disorient the birds and some will circle these buildings until their either die from colliding with the structure or from exhaustion. According to scientists, hundreds of millions of birds die annually as a result of these encounters with tall buildings. AdProperty owners of tall buildings as well as residents or office workers are encouraged to turn off their lights or close their shades after 11 p.m. during Safe Passages Great Lakes Days. Those who work in tall buildings at night are also encouraged to use desk lamps or other dim lights to minimize perimeter lighting at night.

(Photo by Bill Pugliano/Getty Images)ANN ARBOR – The University of Michigan has deactivated Mcard access to non-residential buildings for 375 undergraduate students after they failed to comply with the school’s mandatory COVID testing requirements. Undergraduate students who reside on or visit campus have been required to undergo weekly COVID testing through the Community Sampling and Tracking Program since the beginning of the semester. Students can also submit a request for an exemption from being included in the mandatory testing cohort. According to the team, roughly 98% of undergraduate students living in residence halls have complied with the required testing program.

A couple hours later the Alumni Association of the University of Michigan reached out and asked if they could share the pictures on their social media pages. Mael estimates that 30,000-32,000 pieces of LEGO make up the model, which measures roughly 3.5 by 3.5 feet. He estimates he has up to 200,000 LEGO pieces in his collection. He said if the times were different, he would be showing it at the Ann Arbor District Library’s Annual LEGO Contest.

Executive Order 2020-139 renames the state-owned Lewis Cass Building in Downtown Lansing to the Elliott-Larsen Building, honoring the legislators who sponsored Michigans landmark civil rights act. This change marks the first time in Michigan history that a state building is named after an African-American woman. Together, Melvin Larsen and Daisy Elliotts names have become synonymous in Michigan with the protection of civil rights, said Governor Whitmer. Thats why I am proud to rename the Cass building in Lansing to the Elliott-Larsen building.

McDonald recalled spending time as a child in the midcentury library and sitting on Barcelona chairs and stools, a classic midcentury furniture design, in the gallery and other spaces. This is an incredible town, said Charles Mikkelsen, for whom living in a midcentury home had been a longtime dream. This time their home, which was built on a concrete slab and overlooks a creek, was filled with about 5 feet (1.5 meters) of water. In 2017, it was flooded by less than a foot (0.3 meters) and it took 9 months to restore.
