According to authorities, it happened at about 8:20 p.m. at the Burger King located near the intersection of Platt Road and Michigan Avenue. Police said employees told them they were held at gunpoint and forced to hand over money from the safe. The culprit fled from the location north through a lot and a witness observed the getaway vehicle free westbound on Textile Road. The suspected robber is described as a tall thin Black man wearing a blue coat, khaki pants and dress shoesAnyone with information is asked to contact the Pittsfield Township Police Department at 734-822-4958.

The Impossible Whopper made by California-based Impossible Foods attracted many new U.S. customers to Burger King when it debuted this spring. The Impossible Whopper was such a success that Burger King is now testing other versions including a kid's Impossible Cheeseburger at 180 U.S. restaurants. "Given the positive reactions to the product in the U.S.A. and raising demand in Europe, Burger King wanted to bring this category to Europe as soon as possible," the company said in a statement.

It said McDonald's also recently announced a test of a Beyond Meat burger in Canada. The upbeat sales forecast comes as Beyond Meat and rival Impossible Foods are facing more competition, including from food industry giants like Nestle and Tyson that are also looking to tap into the demand for plant-based options. The fast-food chain didn't provide details on how much the burger contributed to U.S. sales, but said it sees momentum for continued growth for plant-based options. It previously forecast sales of more than $240 million.

Some 320 tonnes of single-use plastic will be saved each year, according to Burger King. The company will also install containers in UK stores so that old plastic toys can be recycled and used to build play areas. Burger King was responding to a petition from Ella and Caitlin McEwan, aged 9 and 7, who wrote: "It's not enough to make recyclable plastic toys big, rich companies shouldn't be making toys out of plastic at all." Burger King said it intends to remove non bio-degradable plastic toys from other markets by 2025.

Starting this fall, the plant-based meat substitute will be available at about 1,500 colleges, corporate cafeterias and hospitals through Sodexo, a foodservice company. That means workers at corporate offices of major companies, including Unilever and Ford, students and fast-food customers throughout the country will soon be able to buy an Impossible burger with ease. The other is to use pre-made meat substitutes, like Impossible's protein, for dishes designed to mimic the taste of meat. The chain won't say how many of the burgers it's sold since first introducing them in April, but did say it's enticing more people to enter its stores. Impossible Foods, the company that makes the burgers for Burger King and White Castle, is struggling to meet surging demand. On Thursday it announced a new partnership with OSI, one of the world's largest food producers. Impossible Foods has doubled the workers at its plant and produced a record number of burgers in June, but demand is still outpacing production.

(CNN) - Burger King is trying to get customers' attention with something a little different: Tacos. Burger King first tested out tacos in western states. "We've seen success with tacos in those restaurants and knew it was time to bring this west coast favorite nationwide," Chris Finazzo, president of North America for Burger King, said in a statement. They could distract Burger King from focusing on creating growth within its main menu, Saunders said. But "sometimes you get the impression that Burger King chases after the shiny objects rather than focusing on the core business."
