A father from St. Clair Shores was fatally shot and crashed his vehicle when driving with his son on Detroit’s east side.

To guide a child safely across a street was something Dick Krausmann did lovingly for 51 years. He would stop what he was doing, wherever he was doing it, and head towards Maire Elementary School in Grosse Pointe with his vest and stop signs and cross children safely.

Police say a man is likely facing several felony charges after allegedly assaulting a pregnant woman on I-94 in Detroit.

DETROIT – A Detroit police SUV was hit by a suspected drunk driver overnight in the area of Cadieux Road and Marne Street on the city’s east side. Officers were on the scene of a crash when a second car hit the police SUV. The officers were inside the SUV, though they were not injured. The suspected drunk driver was taken into custody.

DETROIT – Police are looking for a suspected carjacker after an armed robbery on Detroit’s east side. Police said that as he waited, a man approached on foot, entered the victim’s Nissan Altima, produced a weapon and ordered the victim out of the vehicle. DETROIT – Four children, between ages 4 and 14, were injured in a two-vehicle crash Monday night on westbound Interstate 94 at Cadieux Road. Michigan State Police was dispatched at about 8:20 p.m., according to a series of tweets from the department. A preliminary investigation indicated that two vehicles were attempting to exit at Cadieux Road at the same time. MSP said one of the vehicles blocked the left lane of westbound I-94. According to MSP, a 6-year-old was seriously injuries, a 4-year-old is in temporary serious condition, and a 9-year-old and 14-year-old are both in stable condition.

DETROIT - A 36-year-old man was shot Tuesday while on the porch of a home on Detroit's east side, police said. The shooting happened at 10:37 p.m. Tuesday in the 10300 block of Britain Street, near Morang Avenue and Cadieux Road, according to authorities. The man was shot in the chest and is in temporary serious condition, officials said. Police said the shot was fired from a vacant house. There's no information about the shooter, according to authorities.

DETROIT - A woman is missing after a nursing home fire Monday morning in Detroit. One person was killed in the fire at the St. Joseph Manor nursing home on Cadieux Road near Warren Avenue. The building was partially evacuated after the fire was reported about 3:30 a.m.Eunice Pugh, who nursing home care workers said has severe dementia, wandered away from the nursing home during the fire. Nursing home workers said she may be very confused and lost. "It could have been a lot worse, yes," said Detroit Police Sgt.
