CANTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Police said a truck crash in Canton Township Friday has caused a power outage along Haggerty Road between Palmer Road and Michigan Avenue. According to the Canton Public Safety, the fire department and DTE are on the scene. Traffic lights in the area may be impacted and drivers are advised to treat the intersections as a four-way stop. “Use caution in the area and remain at least 20 feet from any downed wires. According to the DTE outage map, more than 500 customers in the area are without power as of 10 p.m. Friday.

Consumer fireworks are now readily available for purchase and have become a popular way to celebrate holidays, but use of them should not be taken lightly, said Deputy Police Chief Craig Wilsher. Minors shall be prohibited from possessing, using, igniting or discharging consumer fireworks.
