The westbound lanes of I-94 have been shut down in Detroit after a semi truck rolled over, trapping its driver inside.

For many people, the mass shooting that killed at least seven people and injured 30 others in a Chicago suburb on July 4 was yet another reminder that any place, any event in the U.S. can turn dangerous or deadly.

Interim Detroit police Chief James White provided updates on a shooting that left one man dead and three others injured.

Four people were shot and one man was killed in a shooting outside a Southwest Detroit bar that was open past 4 a.m., according to police.

DETROIT – Police found a man who had been injured in a hit-and-run crash lying in the middle of the road on Detroit’s west side. Officers said the 45-year-old man was found around 5:30 a.m. Monday in the 5500 block of Proctor Street, near Cecil Avenue an I-94. Investigators determined he had been the victim of a hit-and-run crash. The driver was seen leaving the area in a gray Chevrolet Silverado, according to authorities. The Silverado was last seen heading north on McGraw Avenue and west on Central Avenue.

A 36-year-old Southfield man has been arrested while accused of driving at Detroit police officers during a protest on Friday. Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy says the incident Friday, May 29 at 9 p.m. in the area of Griswold and West Fort streets in Detroit. It’s alleged John Antoine Holliman saw two uniformed Detroit police bicycle officers and drove directly at them, causing them to ride onto the sidewalk to escape harm. After a short chase he pulled into a gas station in the area of Central Avenue and West Vernor where he was arrested, police said. He was arraigned Monday evening in 36th District Court and received a $15,000/10% bond.

DETROIT - We expect to learn more today about the death of a 9-year-old girl who was mauled by three dogs in Southwest Detroit. She was riding her bicycle in the area of Central Avenue and Smart Street when the three pit bulls escaped from a neighbor's yard, police said. The owner of the dogs, 33-year-old Pierre Cleveland, is charged with second-degree murder and is scheduled to be back in court Wednesday. Defendant Cleveland was the next door neighbor and owner of the three pit bulls that attacked the victim.
