A new community center will reutilize the former Learning Circle Academy campus in West Bloomfield.

A big project got underway on Friday (Oct. 1) in Sterling Heights and it was aimed at giving people more options for affordable housing.

The $25 million mixed-use development will have 135 affordable apartments and 9,000 square feet of retail space.

STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. The Chaldean Community Foundation is celebrating a big milestone. Theyre unveiling a new building in Sterling Heights. The foundation is helping people in many ways get through these tough times that have been brought on by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Inside the 19,000 square foot building is a full court gym, office space, music and art studio and a health clinic. It was built by a member of the Chaldean community, Peter Jonna of the Jonna Construction Company.

An Iraqi man who lived most of his life in the U.S. but was deported, died shortly after arriving in Iraq. The 41-year-old Iraqi national died of complications from diabetes in early August after being deported to Iraq in June.
