Jazz artist gives preview performance for upcoming free concert

The Spirit of Detroit is being used to transform the alleys in a few neighborhoods into works of art.

DETROIT – Three people have been killed in a crash early Monday morning in eastbound lanes of I-94 at Chalmers Street in Detroit. The crash happened before 2 a.m. According to Michigan State Police, a preliminary investigation revealed that a Chevrolet Camaro was speeding when it hit a Mercury SUV. The Camaro had a 39-year-old man behind wheel and a 38-year-old woman passenger. State police report excessive speed and alcohol are contributing factors in this crash.

Police said a suspect accused of stealing a red Dodge Challenger, drove away from officers when he ran the light. He hit the Trailblazer with Harris, her 5-year-old twin girls and 12-year old niece inside.

DETROIT - A deadly high speed crash was caught on a home security camera and neighbors said they were just waiting for a tragedy like this to happen. Local 4 obtained video of a car speeding through the stop sign on Frankfort Street and hitting another car. A Detroit official told Local 4 his office is not currently considering the traffic signal at Frankfort and Chalmers streets, primarily because there already is a traffic signal one block south at Warren and Chalmers and two blocks north at Chandler Park Drive. The official does not believe that the traffic volume is sufficient on Frankfort Street to justify another traffic signal. Frankfort Street currently has stop signs.
