As part of its Women’s Voices series presented by Toyota, Michigan Theater will begin virtual screenings of Her Name is Chef on Friday. The documentary explores the changing culture of the culinary industry through the stories of six female chefs. Virtual screenings cost $12 to rent, $10 for Michigan Theater members and is free for gold members. If rented through the MTF AgileLink streaming platform, 50 percent of proceeds from the film benefit the independent Ann Arbor theater.

Host Tati Amare spoke with Jennifer Litomisky, Executive Director of Ronald Mcdonald House Of Southeastern Michigan about an upcoming cooking fundraiser that will support families in need. Litomisky explained that the Ronald McDonald House is a “home away from home”. Their upcoming fundraiser puts two chefs head-to-head with some mystery ingredients to create a tasty masterpiece. The cook-off for kids in need will support families who rely on the local Ronald McDonald House.

A benefit dinner series, each Chefs in the Garden dinner will combine local chefs and bakers to provide guests a dining experience full of food and entertainment. The Chefs in the Garden series offers diners food and music experiences over the course of the evening. Located at the Growing Hope Urban Farm, each of the three dinners will showcase the artisanship of each pairing with proceeds going to Ypsilanti Farmers Markets, the Growing Hope Incubator Kitchen and the Growing Hope Urban Farm as well as additional community programs. The Growing Hope Urban Farm is located at 922 West Michigan Ave., Ypsilanti.
