The seat belt recall covers 624,000 2019 through 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 pickup trucks. Also included are the 2021 Chevrolet Suburban and Tahoe and GMC Yukon XL, and the 2020 and 2021 Silverado 2500 and 3500 and GMC Sierra 2500 and 3500. GM says in government documents that the seat belt brackets may not have been secured to the seat frame. GM will notify owners starting Feb. 1 and dealers will inspect the seat belt brackets and assemble them correctly.

Officers responded to the 3200 block of Avalon Road in Rochester Hills at around 7 p.m. yesterday after an active home invasion was reported. According to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office, the victim reported that she and her mother came home and noticed a truck parked in the driveway. The victim didn’t believe it and told the man she knew he had items belonging to her. Afterward the suspect ran to his truck, threw the stolen items in the bed of it and fled the scene.

The crash took place on Auburn Avenue between North Woodward Avenue and South Woodward Avenue around 10:42 a.m. Monday. A late model dark red Chevrolet Silverado was seen leaving the area shortly after the crash. Alcohol appears to be a factor in the crash regarding the pedestrian. It is unknown whether drugs or alcohol are a factor in the crash regarding the driver of the vehicle that fled the scene.

A witness told police a pickup truck went off the road, crashed into a tree and overturned. Don Brady got to the scene within two minutes of the crash and found the 56-year-old Mount Morris man trapped in the pickup truck, officials said.
