CLAWSON, Mich. A second case of pertussis, also known as whooping cough, has been confirmed at Clawson High School. Clawson Public Schools Superintendent Tim Wilson made the announcement Friday. The schools custodial staff plans on conducting a special deep cleaning of the entire school this weekend as part of the disinfecting process. A case of whooping cough has been confirmed at Clawson High School, according to the Clawson Public Schools superintendent. In an email to parents on Thursday, Superintendent Tim Wilson said the whooping cough (pertussis) case is contained to the high school and that there are no other such cases at other Clawson Public Schools buildings. According to the Oakland County Health Division, parents should keep children home from school and activities, such as sports or play groups, if they have a cough. CLAWSON, Mich. - Michigan State Police were dispatched to Clawson High School Oct. 17 with explosive-detecting dogs to investigate after a student told his mother that another classmate threatened to blow up the school, according to the Clawson Police Department. Clawson officers went to the school to speak to administrators and contacted the student who allegedly made the threat and his mother. The student denied making any threat, according to a statement from Clawson Police Chief Scott Sarvello. The MSP's precautionary search Thursday evening found no signs of explosives and it was determined the threat was not credible and classes were not canceled. CLAWSON, Mich. - Police are looking for a missing Clawson High School student who walked off the school campus at about 11:30 a.m. Friday. According to authorities, 10th grader Jovan Jackson used an ancillary exit door to leave the school. A review of security camera footage occurred promptly after the boy was deemed missing shows his last known location as he was walking north on Washington Avenue in Clawson.
