Former Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford and his wife Kelly opened their community center on the city's east side.

Tom Gores, owner of the Detroit Pistons and CEO of Platinum Equity, announced his plans to build a $20 million community center in Rouge Park on the city’s west side. This announcement is the first in a series of initiatives Gores envisions for his foundation, the Tom Gores Family Foundation.

STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. – The Sterling Heights Parks and Recreation Department announced on Friday that the city’s community center will reopen under restrictions later this month. The center is only permitted to Sterling Heights residents under specific guidelines in accordance with Michigan’s executive orders 2020-175 and 2020-176. Gretchen Whitmer on Sept. 3 recreation centers must mandate wearing face coverings at all times and limit capacity to 25 percent. “We are excited for the opportunity to re-open the new Community Center and start providing additional recreation opportunities to our residents,” said Sterling Heights Parks and Recreation director Kyle Langlois in a press release. ANN ARBOR, Mich. - On Saturday at the 2|24 Community Center, the inaugural Ann Arbor Family Expo will kick off with kids' activities, local family-friendly vendors, storytelling and a bounce house. Beginning at 3 p.m., the free family expo will host over 40 kid-friendly businesses and organizations from around Washtenaw County like the Leslie Nature and Science Center, the Ann Arbor Hands-on Museum and Ann Arbor Baby Beginnings. The Ann Arbor Family Expo is the brainchild of Meghan Endahl, who decided to organize the expo after struggling to find family-centered resources for own family after her son was diagnosed with celiac disease.
