In documents posted Monday, the agency says fires start on the left side of the engine compartment. Most of the fires happened while the vehicles are being driven, but four owners complained that fire broke out with the engine off. The agency says the RAV4 has a higher number of fire complaints in the battery area than comparable vehicles.

PAL has received emails from appreciative neighbors in the last few weeks but there still are complaints. Some people reached out to Local 4 News with their complaints and said they’re afraid to call the police on the police.

Erin Gavle lives next door to the PAL stadium, off of Michigan Avenue in Corktown. She said for the most part, theyre good neighbors, but the loud music, trash on the ground and crazy parking jobs, overlook the good. Local 4 News obtained video of cars lined up on Michigan Avenue in Corktown, causing traffic backup. CEO Robert Jamerson with PAL said he understands their neighbors concerns and its important to work together.

Investigators are looking into whether repairs made by GM under the extended warranty actually solved the problem with the electric power steering system. In a statement, GM said it's cooperating in the probe, but it does not consider the issue to be a safety problem. The issue is a slight feeling of friction in the steering system that can be an annoyance to customers, the statement said. The safety agency said the probe stems from an owners petition to investigate the matter that was filed in December of 2016.
