DETROIT – A gunman who barricaded himself and his girlfriend in a home on Friday has died after he was shot by police officers. The nine-hour standoff ended Friday night after the man was shot by an officer. The 42-year-old man held his girlfriend hostage at a home on Concord Street. That’s when police said the situation escalated and the fatal shot was fired by an officer.

DETROIT – A barricaded gunman situation on Detroit’s east side has ended after several hours. A woman, who was identified as the man’s girlfriend, was held hostage but is now OK. The 42-year-old gunman was shot once and taken to a hospital and is in critical condition. DETROIT – Police are responding an allegedly armed man who has barricaded himself inside a home on Concord Street on Detroit’s east side, near Seven Mile Road. Authorities said the 42-year-old man inside the home is having a mental health episode. When police arrived at the home, they said the man was armed and threatened himself and his girlfriend inside the home. “He produced a handgun and made threatening motions towards his girlfriend, who is in the residence,” said Detroit Police Commander Darin Szilagyi. Members of the Detroit Special Response and Crisis Negotiation teams are on the scene trying to resolve the situation peaceful.
