In Oct. 2019, the bald eagle was discovered injured in a Wendyโs parking lot in Monroe, Michigan, after a citizen reported witnessing a train and bald eagle collide a week prior, according to the zoo. The bird, named Captain Marvel, joins two other rescued bald eagles at the zoo; Flash and Mr. America. โWeโre happy that weโre able to offer her a home here at the Detroit Zoo,โ said Scott Carter, chief life sciences officer for the Detroit Zoological Society (DZS). โFemale bald eagles tend to display more assertive behaviors, so she could end up being in charge in the eaglesโ habitat,โ said Carter.
