We’ve seen the Detroit Youth Choir (DYC) rise to the top during their appearance on “America’s Got Talent”, and with many new opportunities that have opened up for them since then. Now the choir is returning to the national stage.

Your child has the chance to join the Detroit Youth Choir.

The Detroit Youth Choir will soon take the stage in New York City.

At the start of next year you can audition with the famed Detroit Youth Choir. Auditions will be held on Jan. 8, 2022.

Many of you have been following the Detroit Youth Choir since they wowed the audiences of America’s Got Talent. The group has a new music video as part of Life Remodeled’s Lean on We campaign.

Stars will shine bright on Woodward Avenue this Thanksgiving morning.

They made Detroit proud with their nationally televised performances on “America’s Got Talent” and we all cheered them on after getting the golden buzzer. Now there’s another chance to show our support for the Detroit Youth Choir (DYC) in a big way as they celebrate 25 years of making a difference in the D through music.

Detroit has a long, strong, proud history of gospel music, and some of our favorites are once again taking the national stage and being recognized. The 36th Stellar Gospel Music Awards air this Sunday, August 1st, and Detroit will definitely be well represented.

The choir was nominated after it succeeded in the public voting round for the award nomination, which ended April 1.

It’s been two years since Terry Crews hit the golden buzzer and launched the Detroit Youth Choir on a journey that won them the hearts of many on “America’s Got Talent.”

DETROIT – The Detroit Youth Choir took to the world of politics Friday when they released a new song about the highly-watched Senate races in Georgia. READ: Stakes high for U.S. Senate runoffs in GeorgiaThe song -- titled “Georgia’s Changing” -- only featuring two artists instead of the entire choir. Both artists featured in the song have grandparents from Georgia who were also active in the civil rights movement. The song ends with a message telling watchers to vote blue and vote for the democrats in the race. The video was posted to the Detroit Youth Choir’s Twitter account with a quote from Lewis.

Today on Music Monday, Live In The D got to celebrate a special collaboration. The Detroit Youth Choir (DYC) worked on a new song with music producer, Jermaine Dupri. Dupri has worked with everyone from Mariah Carey to Jay-Z and more. White says when Dupri reached out, the kids were over the moon to learn they were going to work with him on a song. DETROIT – After the Detroit Youth Choir earned second place on NBC’s “America’s Got Talent (AGT),” the group is on the verge of hitting a new level of fame. Now the group is being considered for a Grammy for their rendition of the song “Glory" -- an Oscar-winning song from the 2014 movie “Selma.”“The production company sent me an email saying, 'Congratulations, you guys are considered for a Grammy for the re-imagination of ‘Glory’," said Anthony White with the Detroit Youth Choir. One year ago, the Detroit Youth Choir finished in second place, and this year, the choir returned for an encore performance. The choir prerecorded its performance in Detroit instead of live in Los Angeles because of COVID-19 restrictions and changes to the show. White says Detroit Youth Choir is now made up of three different choirs, developing at different levels. It was established at the Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan, providing support to the Detroit Youth Choir in perpetuity. Shyel White said being a part of the Detroit Youth Choir improved her self-confidence.

DETROIT - The Detroit Youth Choir needs your help! The downtown Detroit skyline was lit up in purple, showing support for the DYC. From the Greektown Casino to Beacon Park to Campus Martius Park, you couldn't go anywhere without seeing the choir's signature color. For their performance, the choir went back to the song that got them a golden buzzer, "Can't Hold Us," and they added their own special Detroit flavor with different lyrics and choreography. "Tonight was my first time actually sitting in the theater to listen to DYC perform and it was electrifying," Kimberly Gill said.
