Officials said fatal traffic crash occurred on South I-75, north of Mortar Creek Road in Monroe County at 3 p.m. on Tuesday. The Chevrolet struck a blue 2018 Freightliner tractor trailer in the rear. The tractor trailer was traveling at a low speed and being driven by a 29-year-old Brampton, Ontario man. The tractor trailer driver was not injured. The crash is still under investigation by the Monroe County Sheriffs Office.

Police discovered human skeletal remains over the weekend in a Monroe County drainage ditch, officials said. The discovery was made around 12:50 p.m. Sunday in an open field on the south side of West Stein Road, west of Strasburg Road, according to the Monroe County Sheriff Dale Malone. Deputies were called to the field when a worker performing maintenance found unknown human skeletal remains, according to authorities. The remains were taken from the drainage ditch and turned over to the Wayne County Medical Examiners Office in Detroit for an autopsy and identification. Anyone with information about the discovery is asked to call the Monroe County Sheriffs Office at 734-240-7530.

The crash happened at 2:16 p.m. Tuesday on Sterns Road, west of Secor Road, according to Monroe County Sheriff Dale Malone. Officials said James L. McGee, 77, of Toledo, Ohio, was driving a 2004 Buick Century east on Sterns Road. He turned left into a private driveway and got back onto Sterns Road, heading east, according to authorities. The Century crossed the center line and crashed head-on with a black 2000 Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck that was heading west, police said.

At 2:24 a.m.the Monroe County Central Dispatch reported to officers that Toledo police were in search of a vehicle wanted in their jurisdiction for breaking and entering. A perimeter was established around the scene by Toledo Police and deputies from the Monroe County Sheriff's Office. The Monroe County Sheriff's helicopter was deployed to help locate the suspect. The suspect is a 46-year-old Ohio man who is being held in the Monroe County Jail on charges of breaking and entering, and receiving/concealing stolen property.
