A French Bull Dog that was stolen out of Dearborn 10 months ago was recovered by Detroit Animal Control.

Harold Phillips, 35, died last Friday, just days after he was attacked by three pit bull mix dogs while walking from a bus stop on Detroit’s west side.

The number of dogs shot and killed by Detroit police officers has steadily increased over the last three years.

A Detroit man has been arrested for burying his dog alive in his backyard, which later led to the dog being euthanized, prosecutors said.

A new animal shelter and office building for Detroit Animal Care and Control is expected to begin construction in January and open before the end of 2023.

Animal shelters in Michigan are overflowing with animals and Detroit Animal Control is busy.

The shelter has space for 84 and is currently housing 150 dogs.
