DETROIT – With the 2020 America’s Thanksgiving Parade just one week away, sneak previews of new floats are beginning to surface. This year, two foundations have teamed up to showcase an initiative that focuses on the success of Detroit children at the parade. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the 2020 America’s Thanksgiving Parade, presented by Gardner White, will be live televised and streamed online only. On Thanksgiving morning, coverage begins at 6 a.m. on WDIV-Local 4 and ClickOnDetroit.com with a special edition of Local 4 News Today hosted by Rhonda Walker, Evrod Cassimy and Brandon Roux. DETROIT – According to the Wayne County Health Department, the number of Detroit children getting vaccinations is down from 82% to 47% percent since march when the first Michigan coronavirus cases were announced. Flu shots were also available. In the meantime, Michigan officials have warned that flu shots are vital to prevent a separate outbreak amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. According to officials, 187 US children died from the flu, including six children in Michigan, during the 2019-2020 flu season. The nation also recorded 18 to 26 million medical visits due to the flu and nearly half a million flu hospitalizations, officials say.
