Last summer, heavy rain flooded thousands of basements in Detroit and the city was honest about what happened -- the pumps just couldn’t keep up.

A Detroit homeowner has experienced flooding at least four times since the summer, yet she continues to be denied Federal Funding.

All across Metro Detroit there are anxious homeowners hoping their basements will stay dry as more rain moves through the area. Most have been spared by the flooding so far.

FEMA officials are going door-to-door in Detroit to make sure people can access the federal help they’re entitled to after severe flooding impacted the area.

People living near the water on Detroit’s east side said massive flooding that filled basements with raw sewage should not have been as severe if all the pumps had been working.
