The neurosurgery residency program at the Detroit Medical Center belongs solely to the DMC, reads a statement from WSU. The Wayne State name is listed on the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education website because of a prior teaching affiliation agreement.

Statistics regarding concussions, provided by the Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine Division at Detroit Medical Center, definitely validate the increasing concerns parents have. Coaches instructing players on proper techniques in contact sports is another way concussions can be limited. Players should only be allowed to return to their sport when a medical professional determines that they have completely recovered from their concussions. If a player keeps playing the game with a concussion, risk of brain hemorrhage, swelling and other long-term problems increases.
