The Detroit Youth Choir will soon take the stage in New York City.

At the start of next year you can audition with the famed Detroit Youth Choir. Auditions will be held on Jan. 8, 2022.

Many of you have been following the Detroit Youth Choir since they wowed the audiences of America’s Got Talent. The group has a new music video as part of Life Remodeled’s Lean on We campaign.

They made Detroit proud with their nationally televised performances on “America’s Got Talent” and we all cheered them on after getting the golden buzzer. Now there’s another chance to show our support for the Detroit Youth Choir (DYC) in a big way as they celebrate 25 years of making a difference in the D through music.

Detroit has a long, strong, proud history of gospel music, and some of our favorites are once again taking the national stage and being recognized. The 36th Stellar Gospel Music Awards air this Sunday, August 1st, and Detroit will definitely be well represented.

Sonic Lunch announced its 2021 lineup on Tuesday morning.

The choir was nominated after it succeeded in the public voting round for the award nomination, which ended April 1.

It’s been two years since Terry Crews hit the golden buzzer and launched the Detroit Youth Choir on a journey that won them the hearts of many on “America’s Got Talent.”

Both artists featured in the song have grandparents from Georgia who were also active in the civil rights movement. One year ago, the Detroit Youth Choir finished in second place, and this year, the choir returned for an encore performance. The choir prerecorded its performance in Detroit instead of live in Los Angeles because of COVID-19 restrictions and changes to the show. White says Detroit Youth Choir is now made up of three different choirs, developing at different levels. It was established at the Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan, providing support to the Detroit Youth Choir in perpetuity. Shyel White said being a part of the Detroit Youth Choir improved her self-confidence.

The celebration will honor the 52 students, music director Anthony White, and the Detroit Youth Choir community as they return home after a stellar run on NBCs Americas Got Talent.The group finished in second place after final voting. Day 4 of UAW-GM strike: Where negotiations standLeaders of the United Auto Workers union initiated a strike Sunday against General Motors as contract negotiations went beyond a weekend deadline. The strike has reached day four, and the escalating conflict between the UAW and GM has started to settle. Michael Fletcher, 44, a teacher at Lakeland High School, was arrested Wednesday. Fletcher was in court for a bench warrant on charges of drunken driving and driving with a suspended license last year. HOLLYWOOD, Calif. It was an exciting night early into the results show of "America's Got Talent" for the Detroit Youth Choir. The Detroit Youth Choir and Ndlovu Youth Choir shared the stage with Kygo and Macklemore for an INCREDIBLE cover of "Higher Love" and "Can't Hold Us!" Kygo is a producer and DJ. He got his start in his bedroom and is now considered one of the best electronic artists. Local 4's Kimberly Gill caught up with Kygo moments after the performance to get his thoughts on the Detroit Youth Choir.
