ShamRock Jazz Orchestra is raising funds for Eastpointe High School’s music program with a benefit concert, hoping to inspire change and state funding for the arts.

A man was arrested Wednesday after driving faster than 130 mph on main roads and in neighborhoods throughout Detroit’s east side, causing several car crashes.

A woman was abducted on Christmas night in Detroit and police are trying to find both the suspect and the victim.

DETROIT – Police are responding an allegedly armed man who has barricaded himself inside a home on Concord Street on Detroit’s east side, near Seven Mile Road. Authorities said the 42-year-old man inside the home is having a mental health episode. When police arrived at the home, they said the man was armed and threatened himself and his girlfriend inside the home. “He produced a handgun and made threatening motions towards his girlfriend, who is in the residence,” said Detroit Police Commander Darin Szilagyi. Members of the Detroit Special Response and Crisis Negotiation teams are on the scene trying to resolve the situation peaceful.

DETROIT A 17-year-old boy was fatally shot Tuesday night in the area of Runyon and Greiner streets on Detroits west side. The victim was sitting in the drivers seat of his 2014 white Dodge Durango. A 2014 red Ford Fusion pulled up alongside the Durango and someone from inside the Fusion fired shots into the Durango, striking the teen. DETROIT A journalist was among a group of people wrestled to the ground and cuffed Tuesday night after what was up until that point a peaceful protest in Detroit. Protesters remained peaceful and held their ground until police began making arrests around 8:45 p.m. The citys curfew is 8 p.m. to 5 p.m.Watch the arrests in the video above.
