McDavid, a 23-year-old forward, is self-quarantining at home and experiencing mild symptoms, according to the Oilers. “He will continue to be monitored and will follow all associated health protocols,” the team said Monday night in a statement. 1 overall pick in the 2015 draft, is widely considered the best player in the NHL. The captain of the Oilers had 34 goals and 63 assists in 64 games during the pandemic-shortened season.

EDMONTON, AB – Gary Bettman will take his first sigh of relief in months when he presents the Stanley Cup. Bettman and deputy commissioner Bill Daly had more questions of their own than answers next season, though it's always been questionable if it will start on Dec. 1 as tentatively planned. “If there’s an option to consider, believe me, we’re considering it,” Bettman said during his annual pre- Stanley Cup Final news conference. “Our goal is to get back to as great a sense of normalcy as possible under whatever circumstances are presented,” Bettman said. Before the Dallas Stars and Tampa Bay Lightning opened the final, Bettman acknowledged he's not taking a victory lap yet.

EDMONTON, AB – Nikita Kucherov and the Tampa Bay Lightning got themselves up off the ice to get even in the Stanley Cup Final. It was the first time in seven games Tampa Bay scored the opening goal. But Dallas interim coach Rick Bowness challenged that Tampa Bay was offside, and replay clearly showed that Blake Coleman was. ... Kucherov’s 28 points (six goals, 22 assists) are the most ever in a postseason for a Tampa Bay player. The NHL is designating two Canadian cities as its hub cities for the 2020 playoffs. TSNs Bob McKenzie said barring any last-minute complications, Edmonton and Toronto will host the playoffs, which are set to start as early as late July. An Edmonton man has recently come forward to claim a $45 million jackpot he won from the Canadian lottery 10 months after his numbers were drawn.
