A cold front is pushing through as we speak which will keep those temps from moving very much through the day and that front will spark a few flakes and flurries, but the roads are in good shape and should stay that way even with isolated flurries and light snow chances. Lake effect snow showers in the Thumb will cause some tricky travel on the shorelines of Lake Huron this morning but most of Metro Detroit will only see remnants of that in the form of mainly flurries.

Since we are on the back side of that circulations, lots of upper level disturbances are rolling down the jet stream like roller coast cars on a track. Highs today in the upper 30s (4 degrees Celsius) north to low 40s (5 degrees Celsius) south. Lows in the mid-to-upper 20s (-3 to -2 degrees Celsius). Highs in the mid 30s (2 degrees Celsius).

Highs will struggle mightily today, as temps hold nearly steady in the low to mid 40s (5 to 7 degrees Celsius). Temperatures will fall into the mid 40s (7 degrees Celsius) during the early evening, so a couple of layers under the costume works well. We start the day with rain showers and temps in the mid 40s (7 to 8 degrees Celsius). The third ingredient is cloud cover, and that’s the question mark. Enough high resolution models bring in some of this cloud cover – which acts as a blanket and holds some heat in - that I think many of us won’t see frost. Our Urban Heat Island has the lowest risk, as temps there will only drop into the upper 30s (4 degrees Celsius).
