On Wednesday it was announced Snyder is facing charges of willful neglect of duty in connection with the Flint water crisis. The evidence reportedly includes potential email evidence of Snyder allegedly being warned about the danger a year before the city moved from using water from the Detroit Water and Sewerage Department to water from the Flint River, and a Legionnaireโs disease cover-up. Brian Lennon, Snyderโs attorney, said criminal prosecution would be โoutrageous.โโIt is outrageous to think any criminal charges would be filed against Gov. In August 2020, a settlement of a lawsuit filed was reached on behalf of residents of Flint who were harmed by lead-tainted water.

MORE: Flint water investigation to start over as all pending charges dismissedDuring the meeting, they explained they dismissed the charges because they found the prior investigation to be incomplete. She and Hammoud maintain the former team under then Attorney General Bill Schuette only collected a sliver of the relevant evidence. Examples they gave include the prior team getting warrants for five cellphones or other electronic devices. Worthy and Hammoud did not promise prosecutions; what they did promise is to go where the evidence takes them.
