Voting is over for the Fall Fan Choice Awards (Sports). Thanks for all your support of local schools and students! Voting for the final round of Marching Bands and Spirit Squads will begin in a few days.

Favorite food is chicken tendersShrine Catholic High School – 17-year-old Ellie Kendell is the latest featured winner of Local 4′s 4Frenzy Fall Fan Choice Awards. “What made me love [cross country] is the feeling of accomplishment when all the work I put in pays off in the race,” she says. Ellie feels that cross country has impacted her life in many ways over the years. “Without cross country I wouldn’t have found my passion for running," she says. “We stick by each other through our wins and losses which makes the team really special.”Since being a member of the cross country team, Ellie has won many accolades, including All-State Academic for division 4 during her sophomore and junior year.

Plays basketballPlays soccerRuns trackShrine Catholic High School – It was formally announced on Local 4 News that Ben Plunkey was the favorite junior on his soccer team for the 4Frenzy Fall Fan Choice Awards. The 16-year-old told us why he believes he earned the award, “I get along with everyone and am a good teammate on the field as well.”Ben says that he started playing soccer around the age of six. “We have good chemistry and my teammates are fun to be around every day at practice or in games,” he says. To wrap things up, we asked Ben one final question: What advice would you want to share with aspiring high school soccer players?

Mount Clemens High School Two of this years Fall Fan Choice Awards go to Sam Joseph from Mt. Clemens High. It was at that moment during his first freshman football experience that he knew he loved football. Senior Sam Joseph of Mount Clemens H.S Offensive Tackle & Offensive Guard (2019)Although Sam spends most of his time tackling football, he is also part of other organizations at school. Sam says he enjoys playing video games to relax after a long day of school and football practice.

He’s had years of experience with playing tennis, however his first time facing an opponent was recent. Even though he won our 4Frenzy Award for tennis, he’s more active when it comes to playing basketball and baseball. Devin says that he is a varsity player for both the baseball and basketball team at Edsel High School. “It [tennis] helps me stay active, stay in shape and helps with my hand eye coordination for baseball,” he says.

Favorite subject is mathStarted running in 2nd gradeAlso plays tennisFavorite place is Mill PondMercy High School Stella Johnson won 4Frenzys Favorite Freshman in Local 4s Fall Fan Choice Awards. She runs cross country at Mercy High School. Stella first began running in the second grade and hasnt stopped since. Even though this is only her first year on the team, Stella shared some advice for those who are interested in running. Stella also enjoys tennis and has been playing for almost as long as she has been running.

I really havent been able get any awards [for Football] because I had to sit out a year because of my transfer, says Green. "We have a new coach named coach Roy, and he really changed us, and his coaching is very good." Green also says that his new coach lead them to the playoffs, which was a big success for him and his team. All around we are just a great team, and we also have a whole lot of talent on the teaml.Congrats to Quincy on his Fall Fan Choice Award!

Starting tomorrow, Oct. 8 at 11 a.m., you can vote for any of your favorite high school students, staff members or clubs under each category, once per hour! Voting ends Oct. 13 at 11 p.m. The people and student organizations with the most votes in each category will be announced as the winners of 4Frenzy's Fall Fan Choice Awards! Assistant principal and director of the STEM Club, Mr. Lawrence Fitz spoke to the students along with Oscar Cobb, a mechanical engineer and the principal of Smith Group. The goal for Smith Group is to partner with Detroit King's STEM Club and to also help with building an engineering program for students. He continues, "The mission of our STEM Club is to increase student interest and involvement in STEM through lessons, hands on projects, connectivity and engagement. Principal Jenkins explains that the STEM Club was just re-established at the school, which is why they are looking to encourage more students to join. Meet Thomas Howard, a soccer goalie at Sterling Heights High School and the winner of Favorite Goalie in 4Frenzy's Fall Fan Choice Awards. Q: How long have you been playing soccer? A: I have played soccer since the age of six and position of Goalie starting at 11 years old. Q: What challenges have you faced playing soccer? Congratulations Thomas Howard on winning the title of 4Frenzy's Favorite Goalie!

This isn't news to anyone who lives here, but we can sometimes forget that fact until something big reminds us. Tens of thousands of votes were cast in this year's Fall Fan Choice Awards, and even then some categories were won by only a few votes. People from Saginaw to Sturgis voted for high school sports personalities in sports like football, soccer, volleyball and field hockey. Winners will receive patches from Local 4 signifying this year's victory and will have their names appear on our television broadcasts.
