Ross is a tall, strong-armed quarterback who can not only throw the ball, but also run it effectively. Ross has already received offers to continue playing quarterback in college from Mount Union, Valparaiso, and Lawrence Tech. St. Mary’s has a historically good football program, with multiple alumni having played in the NFL, and being able to be a team captain for the Eaglets was Ross’ favorite memory of his career. Lastly, Ross assured his win as 4Frenzy’s Favorite Quarterback was not a solo award.

Andrew is a rare athlete who plays two sports in the same season, playing as goalie for the varsity soccer team, and both kicker and punter for the varsity football team. Joining the team as a sophomore after focusing on soccer his freshman year, Andrew’s bond with his teammates was his fondest memory of his football career. He even has a ritual of walking out to the game with his long snapper Evan Boutorwick,Andrew going to continue playing football in college. He’ll also be playing another sport in college, but not soccer like one might expect.

Brown spends his winter seasons playing on the Oxford basketball team, but has also been a varsity football player since his sophomore year. This year, Brown started at Tight End for the Wildcats, and used his 6′1″, 200 pound frame to not only fulfill his duties as a blocker, but also as a mismatch as a pass catcher. “It felt like I was a lifetime member of the team,” Brown said. “Before every game, I have to get a Spicy Italian footlong sub from Subway,” Brown said. “I think one day, like my dad, I’ll be a football coach.”Congratulations to Trent on the award!

Hughes is an up-and-coming star for Stevenson’s cross country team, and even got to run on the high school team as an 8th grader. “I am truly indebted to the skills and techniques I’ve been taught by my coaches since I got here,” Hughes said. “They set me up for success.”Although cross country may be considered an individual sport, Stevenson’s team has camaraderie that rivals any team sport. “I think that’s the coolest part about it: if you stick with cross country, you are guaranteed to see better results in the end.”Outside of cross country, Hughes is a representative for Stevenson’s Global Education Class Council, a volunteer and advocacy group at the school.

Just after his senior year of college, current Detroit Southeastern head coach Courtney Dinkins found himself spending the summer as a volunteer assistant for the high school football team his father coached. “That summer, the coaching bug hit me,” Dinkins said. “The game of football was the only way to pay for my education,” said Dinkins, who earned a degree in sociology from Louisville. This game just means so much to me.”Even in a COVID-shortened season, Dinkins’ Detroit Southeastern Jungaleers had an impressive year. Dinkins’ success on the field came with recognition off of it, as he was voted ‘Favorite Football Coach’ in 4Frenzy’s Fan Choice Awards.

Temple is a big, aggressive force on the Trojans' defensive line, and has been playing football since he was 9 years old. While also playing football, Temple spent his springs in high school playing on the Trenton baseball team.
