As part of a deal, Turnage is ordered to pay $140,000 in restitution and additional charges were dropped. “The evidence clearly demonstrates that the defendant personally benefited from the victim’s vulnerable position, and in doing so violated Michigan law,” said Attorney General Dana Nessel. Turnage has been driving the 91-year-old man to various places and completing tasks for him.

Zachery Morisette, a 26-year-old Macomb County Department of Roads employee, was struck and killed while replacing a manhole cover on I-94 near Nine Mile Road in Macomb County. Smith was charged with failure to stop at the scene of an accident when at fault, resulting in death and failure to stop at the scene of an accident, resulting in serious impairment or death. Both are felony charges. He was given a $25,000 bond and is expected to return to court Oct. 9.

According to authorities, just before 6 p.m., officers with the Detroit Police Department and Michigan State Police responded to reports of a shooting on the Southfield Freeway. Authorities found a woman slumped over the steering wheel of their vehicle and rushed the 31-year-old Detroit woman to a hospital. She is expected to survive, due in part because of a Good Samaritan who pulled over to help. Investigation by MSP and DPD led to the apprehension of Burton, a 28-year-old man from Dearborn Heights.
