Ferndale police are searching for a man accused of touching women inappropriately while passing them on his bicycle.

Ferndale Police Department has responded to claims of racial profiling during traffic stops on 8 Mile Road, which borders Ferndale and Detroit.

Ferndale High School will reportedly be closed on Monday due to an anonymous threat made on social media.

A man charged with abducting a teenager in Ferndale and sexually assaulting her in November was found dead in his jail cell Wednesday, according to authorities.

Authorities provided an update during a news conference Friday on their investigation into the abduction of a teenager in Ferndale, who has since been safely recovered.

Police in Ferndale are investigating the possible kidnapping of a high school student at a gas station. The student is back home and safe.

There are new allegations against the Ferndale Police Department after the Michigan chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) said officers forcibly removed a Muslim woman’s hijab for a booking photo.

The man could be seen on video hiding a sheet over his hands to obscure the weapon which he then pulls out and fires into the ceiling.

A man was arrested after police said he tried to sexually assault a clerk inside a 7-Eleven store early Tuesday morning in Ferndale.

According to authorities, a man is posing as a DTE Energy employee and a general contractor in order to rip off the elderly.

FERNDALE, Mich. – A police chase that started in Hazel Park ended with a violent crash in Ferndale on Friday. A white Hyundai Sonata was pulled over by police in Hazel Park for a traffic violation. The crash ended on the Ferndale side of 8 Mile Road, not far from the State Fairgrounds in Detroit. After the crash a man ran across the street and was taken into custody. His passenger ran further into Ferndale and is still at large.

FERNDALE, Mich. A Redford woman is in critical condition after crashing a vehicle into a bridge and tree in Ferndale early Wednesday morning. Ferndale police say at about 2:30 a.m. the 40-year-old woman crashed into the bridge at Eight Mile Road and Woodward Avenue, and then struck a tree. The driver was taken to the hospital and listed in critical condition. Officials say the woman may have suffered from a medical condition. No roads have been closed due to the incident.

OAKLAND COUNTY, Mich. – A 17-year-old man has been charged in connection to a carjacking in Ferndale. Jacarie Vance is accused of being involved in a carjacking on Thursday at 7:19 a.m. at a Shell gas station at 1100 W Eight Mile Road. Vance is accused of pointing a handgun at the victim and demanding his wallet and car keys. Vance is accused of fleeing westbound on 8 Mile Road in the victim’s vehicle. Vance was arraigned 43rd District Court Magistrate Brennan on one count of armed robbery and one count carjacking.

FERNDALE, Mich. No one was injured in a drive-by shooting Wednesday morning near East Nine Mile Road and Almont Street, Ferndale Police Department officials said. Police responded to the scene at about 2:29 a.m. A preliminary investigation indicated the suspect fired multiple shots at a home occupied by two women and a 15-year-old girl. The suspect then left the area in an unknown vehicle. This is an ongoing investigation.

FERNDALE, Mich. Police are searching for a missing 82-year-old with Alzheimers disease who was last seen Thursday in the 1400 block of LeRoy Street in Ferndale. According to police, Joe Lemelin, was reported missing around 7:30 p.m. Thursday. Police say Lemelin walked away from a family home in the area he was last seen without anyone noticing. The elderly man can be seen leaving the home around 6:30 p.m. and walking westbound on LeRoy Avenue from Central. Lemelin went missing wearing a baseball cap, white shirt, brown belt, khaki pants and black dress socks.

FERNDALE, Mich. – Ferndale police are looking to identify and locate a person in connection with theft from a resident’s garage on Wednesday. Anyone with information regarding the wanted person (pictured above) can contact the Ferndale Police Department at 248-541 3650. Police say they responded to multiple daytime thefts from open garages on Wednesday. Lawn equipment and bikes were stolen, officials said. Police are encouraging residents to close garage doors as weather improves in the state to prevent theft.

FERNDALE, Mich. - The Ferndale Police Department has been targeted in a lawsuit after a traffic stop reportedly led to a body cavity search. Police body camera footage is the cornerstone of the case. Police engaged in a traffic stop with a rental car at the Meijer on Eight Mile Road. Police said they had seen Haliburton moving suspiciously and frisked him. Police deny that a cavity search was conducted, but Haliburton and attorney Todd Perkins argue otherwise.

FERNDALE, Mich. - Police announced Sunday a body found has been identified as Lily Camara, a 28-year-old woman who was last seen Tuesday, July 2. According to authorities, there are strong indications that Camara was a victim of homicide. Police said Camara's 2017 black Ford Edge is still missing.
