Director Fisher Stevens said he and Timberlake talked a lot about “stillness and trusting” while shooting the film. Palmer was raised with a more “stereotypical idea” of what it means to be a man and has to expand his mindset. And that’s kind of why I wanted to make the film,” Stevens said.
