When Caitlin Jodway was a junior in high school, she organized a swimathon for a friend with muscular dystrophy and a hundred swimmers participated. My grandmother lives on Wixom Lake, Jodway said. Just Devastating -- Wixom Lake becomes muddy field after dam failuresThankfully, the home wasnt destroyed but the Livonia family knew they wouldnt be spending the Memorial Day Weekend there. They will be dropped off at an area high school and be distributed by the United Way.

The event is taking place today from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m in the parking lot of Las Palapas Mexican Restaurant at 33308 Plymouth Road in Livonia. On Saturday more than 800 volunteers traveled to Midland to help flood victims despite the threat of coronavirus. Many of the volunteers were from Metro Detroit.
