Robot food delivery is no longer the stuff of science fiction.

Over quarantine, a lot of us have been getting pretty used to using food delivery services. For black history month, why not try out a new app that is helping black-owned restaurants stand out, and get their food to customers. The app started off in Philadelphia, and is now up and running in 4 cities across the nation. He saw that there was no black-owned food delivery systems, and he stepped up to fill the role. Black and Mobile works like any other food delivery service app, and will deliver within a 10 mile radius of the restaurants.

ANN ARBOR – Plum Market fans, rejoice. The grocery store featuring locally sourced products has announced same-day delivery in Ann Arbor and the Detroit metro area in partnership with delivery service Shipt. Now through Dec. 24, Shipt customers will receive 50% off passes, which can be purchased with each delivery and require no long term commitment. “Our new partnership with Shipt enables us to offer Plum Market guests a convenient and cost-effective home delivery option,” Matt Jonna, CEO and Co-Founder of Plum Market, said in a statement. The move will see hundreds of new shoppers added to the Ann Arbor and Metro Detroit area.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. Refraction AI has partnered with the Produce Station in Ann Arbor to offer contactless grocery delivery with its autonomous robot. The REV-1 robot, which hit the streets of Ann Arbor in December 2019, has been delivering meals from partnering restaurants. Our expansion into grocery delivery was a no-brainer during this time when the need for contactless delivery is so strong, said Matthew Johnson-Roberson, co-founder and CEO of Refraction AI in a statement. According to the robotics startup, the REV-1 delivery robot is able to hold about six paper bags of groceries at a time. ANN ARBOR, Mich. Jewish Family Services of Washtenaw County is looking for community members to volunteer for weekly food deliveries to clients. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the organization has asked volunteers to take food from its JFS Specialty Food Pantry to clients in need. The food pantry provides non-perishable foods, fresh produce, and a variety of specialty foods for those with medical conditions or dietary restrictions. Volunteers will help deliver prepared meals to 200 households and groceries to 600 households. For the deliveries, volunteers need to use their own vehicles and call clients once the food has been dropped off.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. Medical students from the University of Michigan have partnered with Hope Clinic to deliver groceries to those in need within Washtenaw County. Hope Clinic has seen a dramatic increase in the need for food assistance and other services during the COVID-19 pandemic.
