The Michigan attorney general’s office said it found no new evidence to support a claim of innocence by a man who was convicted of committing murder in 1986 in a Port Huron college parking lot.

Gretchen Whitmer -- a decision that forensic students in Ohio are questioning. Dasha and Ella are students at Oakwood High School in Dayton Ohio, they are studying forensic science. The students are taking an entry-level forensics class in high school. Dasha, Ella and their classmates have been sending letters to Whitmer, pleading for her to reconsider Kensu’s request for clemency. AdLocal 4 reached out to Governor Whitmer’s office to see why Kensu was denied clemency and get her reaction to the letters sent by students.

However, it’s a murder that at least nine people said he couldn’t have possibly committed. But Kensu was more than 400 miles away in the Upper Peninsula in the town of Escanaba with his ex-fiance Michelle Woodworth. Welser worked for the Port Huron Police Department at the time of the murder. In 2010, Judge Denise Hood overturned the conviction in a 52-page reversal and stating that the prosecuting attorney “engaged in misconduct by using a perjured testimony”.
