DETROIT – Michigan State Police opened an investigation into a shooting on I-94 Christmas night. According to authorities, a 47-year-old man drove himself to Ascension St. John Hospital on Moross Road, where he is being treated for a gunshot wound. Police said the man told staff in the emergency department of the hospital that he had been shot while on the eastbound lanes of I-94. His vehicle was towed to a Michigan State Police post for processing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Michigan State Police at 734-287-5000.

DETROIT – Three people have been killed in a crash early Monday morning in eastbound lanes of I-94 at Chalmers Street in Detroit. The crash happened before 2 a.m. According to Michigan State Police, a preliminary investigation revealed that a Chevrolet Camaro was speeding when it hit a Mercury SUV. The Camaro had a 39-year-old man behind wheel and a 38-year-old woman passenger. State police report excessive speed and alcohol are contributing factors in this crash.

DETROIT – Police are looking for an individual accused of shooting at vehicles on I-96 early Sunday morning following a car crash they were involved in. Michigan State Police say at about 12:10 a.m. a woman’s vehicle was shot at while driving on I-96. According to the woman and other witnesses, the shooter was involved in a car crash with the victim prior to the reported shooting, police say. The victim and the suspect collided in Detroit at Grand River Avenue and Linsday Street. Another driver reportedly approached police as they spoke with the victim, saying his vehicle was also struck by gunfire related to the incident.

DETROIT – Michigan State Police said troopers were dispatched about 3:20 a.m. Monday to northbound Southfield Freeway (M-39) just north of 8 Mile Road after the report of a shooting in Detroit. There had been a shooting that police believe happened on 7 Mile Road near the Southfield Freeway. The victim fled the area after being shot, entered northbound Southfield Freeway but came to a rest on the freeway, blocking the left northbound lane just north of 8 Mile Road. Another vehicle that was not involved in the shooting rear-ended the shooting victim’s vehicle. State police said the shooting victim fled the crash scene on foot and was located by Southfield police.

DETROIT – A 23-year-old woman was killed when her car crashed and overturned Thursday morning on eastbound I-96 near the Davison in Detroit. Michigan State Police said the woman was driving a 2007 Hyundai Elantra about 2 a.m. when she lost control of the vehicle and crossed from the express lanes into the local lanes. HARPER WOODS, Mich. Michigan State Police are investigating a possible freeway shooting Wednesday in Harper Woods. State polices Special Investigation Section detectives responded to the intersection of Roscommon Street and Peerless Avenue. One person was struck and was transported to a local hospital. Police believe the shooting may have happened on the freeway. Interstate 94 at 10 Mile Road has been closed as detectives continue to investigate and locate the crime scene.

DETROIT – Police are searching for the driver of a Dodge Challenger that fatally struck a motorcyclist early Tuesday morning on southbound I-75 in Detroit. Michigan State Police said the vehicle struck the motorcyclist about 1:30 a.m. The Challenger’s driver and a passenger both fled the area. The southbound side of I-75 was closed for several hours at 7 Mile Road as police investigated. No other information is available at this time.

DETROIT A large group of protesters took over a freeway in Downtown Detroit on Saturday evening, the second day of demonstration following the killing of George Floyd. An organized protest began around 5 p.m. in Detroit on Saturday and marched through Corktown and Southwest Detroit. After the organize march ended, many protestors continued into Downtown Detroit and eventually onto I-375. Michigan State Police were urging protesters to leave the freeway. The group exited the freeway just after 9 p.m. and continued to move into Downtown Detroit.

DETROIT Both sides of I-75 near I-94 will be closed in Detroit this weekend as crews demolish a bridge originally constructed in 1969. During the closure, the posted detour for northbound I-75 follows westbound I-94, northbound M-10 (Lodge Freeway), and eastbound M-8 back to northbound I-75. Southbound I-75 traffic will use westbound M-8 to southbound M-10, back to southbound I-75. All ramps, except for Holbrook Avenue to southbound I-75, will reopen by 5 a.m. Monday, June 1. In addition, crews will close the left lane on southbound I-75 from Clay Street to Piquette Avenue starting at 9 a.m. Friday to mobilize demolition equipment.

DETROIT – Someone opened fire on a semi truck Tuesday morning along the Southfield Freeway (M-39) near 7 Mile Road in Detroit. Michigan State Police said it happened about 6:20 a.m. on the northbound Southfield Freeway exit ramp to 7 Mile Road. A car pulled up alongside the semi truck and someone from inside the car fired multiple shots at the truck. The car was last seen traveling westbound on 7 Mile Road. DETROIT – A man was hit and killed while trying to cross the Southfield Freeway on Monday night in Detroit. He hopped over the median on the freeway near Grand River Avenue and tried to walk across. He was struck by two vehicles just before 7 p.m. on the southbound side of the freeway. While other drivers decided to film the incident on their phones, Angela Potter tried to save him. He was trying to cross the freeway from the east side of the Southfield Freeway (M-39).
