ROYAL OAK, Mich. – Police are investigating a possible shooting that happened Friday at around 8:40 p.m. on eastbound I-696 near Campbell Road in Royal Oak. According to police, the driver of a vehicle with a passenger inside reported being in the area and shot at by someone in a light colored vehicle for no reason. No one was harmed in the vehicle that was reportedly targeted. In response to the situation I-696 from Woodward to Mohawk was closed down. The vehicle that was reportedly targeted is being processed as part of the ongoing investigation.

DETROIT – Police are looking for an individual accused of shooting at vehicles on I-96 early Sunday morning following a car crash they were involved in. Michigan State Police say at about 12:10 a.m. a woman’s vehicle was shot at while driving on I-96. According to the woman and other witnesses, the shooter was involved in a car crash with the victim prior to the reported shooting, police say. The victim and the suspect collided in Detroit at Grand River Avenue and Linsday Street. Another driver reportedly approached police as they spoke with the victim, saying his vehicle was also struck by gunfire related to the incident.

DETROIT – Michigan State Police said troopers were dispatched about 3:20 a.m. Monday to northbound Southfield Freeway (M-39) just north of 8 Mile Road after the report of a shooting in Detroit. There had been a shooting that police believe happened on 7 Mile Road near the Southfield Freeway. The victim fled the area after being shot, entered northbound Southfield Freeway but came to a rest on the freeway, blocking the left northbound lane just north of 8 Mile Road. Another vehicle that was not involved in the shooting rear-ended the shooting victim’s vehicle. State police said the shooting victim fled the crash scene on foot and was located by Southfield police.

The driver told police his car was shot multiple times by someone in a Maserati somewhere between McNichols and Eight Mile roads. SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – Michigan State Police Lt. Mike Shaw spoke about a rash of Metro Detroit freeway shootings, saying he believes drivers are speeding more during the pandemic, leading to disputes on the roadway. Over the past six months, Metro Detroit drivers have had to cope with a new hazard: Gunfire. Shaw said the incident began with a run-in between two men at Joy Road and the Southfield Freeway and moved to I-96. Shaw believes more than anything, drivers need to take a deep breath and step back if they find themselves in a possible road rage situation. Michigan State Police officials said since June 15, there have been 18 shooting incidents on Metro Detroit highways, including 14 in Detroit.

DETROIT – Traffic on Interstate 96 was shut down for hours Tuesday afternoon as Michigan State Police tried to piece together a shooting on the freeway near Greenfield Road. A jeep that was struck in the shooting received damage to its back window, driver’s side window and door and one of the tires. Sources said the man driving the jeep told police he was shot at while driving on the Southfield Freeway north of Joy Road, which lead police to shut down the lanes Tuesday night and start walking the freeway looking for shell casings. Police sources said after the man was shot at, he pulled over near I-96 and Greenfield and called a family member to come and get him. It is unknown what led to the shooting.

HARPER WOODS, Mich. From June 15 to July 29, Michigan State Police reported 15 felonious assaults -- non-fatal shootings and homicides -- on Metro Detroit freeways. Since then, five more freeways were reported, including a shooting that ended in Harper Woods Wednesday and left one man seriously injured. A red Pontiac G6 came to a stop at the intersection of Roscommon Street and Peerless Avenue in Harper Woods, riddleed with bullets. I looked and I saw the smoke from the tires, Harper Woods resident Larry Duren. There is no motive yet determined, and it is unknown if the men in the red vehicle knew anyone in the other vehicle.

HARPER WOODS, Mich. Michigan State Police are investigating a possible freeway shooting Wednesday in Harper Woods. State polices Special Investigation Section detectives responded to the intersection of Roscommon Street and Peerless Avenue. One person was struck and was transported to a local hospital. TAYLOR, Mich. The westbound lanes of I-94 were closed at Telegraph Road for several hours Thursday morning for a police investigation after a shooting on the interstate. Michigan State Police said troopers were dispatched about 3:50 a.m. to a shooting on the freeway. A man said he had been shot at while driving on westbound I-94 near Ecorse Road. The driver was not hurt and continued driving to work. The man who called police is a concealed pistol license (CPL) holder.

TAYLOR, Mich. A driver on I-94 said multiple shots were fired at his car in a case of road rage Thursday morning. It happened at I-94 and Telegraph Road, leaving the freeway shutdown for hours for police to investigate. Lacour Vaughn was on his way to work just before 4 a.m. when he noticed a driver weaving in and out of traffic. I switched lanes so I could pass him and I guess he didnt like that and a case of road rage happened, Vaughn said. The shooting shut down I-94 just as morning traffic started to pick up.

DETROIT Charlie Dushaee Brown, 49, was charged Saturday in connection to a shooting that occurred Wednesday on I-96, near the Southfield Freeway. According to Michigan State Police, at about 12:30 p.m., a man called 911 and told police someone driving alongside him on I-96 fired one round from a handgun, striking the driver side door of his vehicle. Detroit police said Brown had also shot at the victim in June and was being investigated by its department as well. Police said detectives were able to track down Brown at his place of employment, where he was taken into custody Thursday without incident. Brown was arraigned Saturday on charges of assault with intent to murder, great bodily harm less than murder, discharging a firearm from a vehicle and felony firearm.

DETROIT – Michigan State Police shut down northbound Southfield Freeway between 7 Mile and 8 Mile roads after a suspected shooting on the freeway early Thursday morning. Traffic update: This stretch of the northbound side of freeway was closed for an investigation Thursday. Police said he thought it was a drunk driver, so he backed off the vehicle. Once he arrived at his destination, he found what he thought was a bullet hole in his vehicle, police said. The man tried to file the report with the Southfield Police Department, but was directed to make the report with state police.

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. A Detroit man is facing charges after he allegedly shot someone while driving on the Lodge Freeway in Southfield on Sunday. Police say Butler pulled up next to the victims vehicle around 7:30 p.m. near the 8 Mile Road exit on the northbound side of the freeway and fired shots. Earlier this week, police said they believed the shooting was probably related to road rage. The victim needed surgery, but he is expected to recover. Butler was issued a $500,000 cash bond.
