Rain showers will continue for the next few days with temperatures staying above freezing

A mixed bag of precipitation including snow, sleet, freezing rain and rain looks to be possible by the middle of the week.

The clouds have stuck around for most of the day, with some of us seeing a little light snow, but we’ve got more winter weather moving into the region as we work throughout the overnight hours on Saturday and into the first half of our Sunday.

The rain will continue as we end the year, but a light wintry mix is possible as we celebrate the beginning of the New Year

After a day where we kept plenty of cloud cover around, cold temperatures, and light snow or snow flurries, we will continue this trend through the overnight hours tonight and into the end of the weekend.

A winter weather advisory has been issued for Southeastern Michigan counties due to possible freezing rain and drizzle.

DETROIT – We’re expecting some precipitation Tuesday night into Wednesday. Meteorologist Paul Gross explains the types of precipitation -- rain, sleet and snow -- and when they’re expected to form in the Metro Detroit area. Snow is expected at about midnight Wednesday, whereas sleet is expected at 7 a.m. followed by 8 a.m. freezing rain.
