In March 2020, on Friday the 13th, COVID took away Jones’ catering business and cooking classes. “They have thousands of pounds of produce to try and get out to the community,” Jones recalled. “All these wonderful people coming out to TCF to load trucks and cars and vans and trailers,” Jones recalled. His desire to give back during a pandemic led to the Detroit Free Press to name him 2021 Chef of the Year.
