Police are searching for a man accused of breaking into a Detroit business late Wednesday night.

The city of Detroit received grant funding that will be used to find ways to make the Gratiot corridor safer.

Northbound Gratiot Avenue between Crocker Blvd and Market Street is closed after a vehicle struck the Macomb County Circuit Court Building.

Investigators with Roseville police say that initial reports indicated the vehicle that caused the crash was traveling near 100 miles per hour, lost control and struck two other vehicles. Investigators with Roseville police say that initial reports indicate the vehicle that caused the crash was traveling near 100 miles per hour, lost control and struck two other vehicles. One of the vehicles struck a nearby building, causing substantial damage. A 24-year-old woman who was driving one of the vehicles was killed. The other drivers are expected to be OK.Police continue to investigate the crash.

EASTPOINTE, Mich. – An Eastpointe city worker has died after he became trapped when a trench collapsed on Wednesday, according to Fire Deputy Chief Nick Sage. Sage said that the man covered with water and mud was a 41-year old Eastpointe city worker from the Department of Public Works, and the trench was about to 6 feet to 7 feet deep. The trench around the water main collapsed trapping DPW worker Brian Theobald in the hole. Our firefighter / paramedics and Medstar ambulance personnel administered life-saving measures and transported Mr. Theobald to a local hospital. Mr. Theobald was a valued employee of the City of Eastpointe for thirteen years.

DETROIT – Detroit police are searching for a person wanted in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash that happened Aug. 22 at around 3:25 a.m. on the city’s east side. Police say the hit-and-run took place in the area of Gratiot and Harper. The victim, a 43-year-old man, was riding his bicycle southbound down the center turn lane of Gratiot when he was fatally struck head on by a gold H2 Hummer traveling north. The driver did not stop and continued traveling north on Gratiot. Anyone with information on the hit-and-run crash is asked to call the Detroit Police Department’s Homicide Unit at 313-596-2260 or Crimes Stoppers at 1-800-Speak-Up.
