Community members are coming together to help bridge the digital divide in the city of Detroit.

World Central Kitchen founder Jose Andres, Jordan’s Queen Rania, BlackRock CEO Larry Fink and “Hamilton” creator Lin-Manuel Miranda will help relaunch the Clinton Global Initiative in September.

A day of tributes for Detroit police Officer Loren Courts as his family, friends, and the city say their final goodbye. Courts was killed in the line of duty less than two weeks ago, and during the funeral service Monday, an end of watch call conveyed one last dispatch to him.

A sea of blue honored a hero Monday. It was a final goodbye to Officer Loren Courts after he was gunned down in the line of duty.

First responders and relatives paid their respects, as well as people who didn’t know him personally, but felt compelled to show up and honor Courts’ life.

The funeral arrangements for recently fallen officer Loren Courts have been released.

DETROIT – One of Detroit’s largest churches held a rally Thursday in George Floyd’s memory. Escorted by police, the rally started on Woodward Avenue at the city offices in Highland Park and marched through the streets of Detroit. Attendees said the message is that there are protests and riots and the public shouldn’t be confusing the two as the same. Gretchen Whitmer and Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan joined a unity march through Detroit to honor the life of George Floyd. Whitmer and Duggan joined local clergy and law enforcement members, starting in Highland Park and ending on Woodward Avenue near Wayne State University. We need to stand up and we need to speak out and we need to take action, Presbyterian leader Bob Agnew said. As the march neared Wayne State, everyone turned the corner at Warren Avenue and took a knee, giving Floyd a moment of silence. We know that we are at a tipping point in this country and we cannot let this day only be a day, Whitmer said.
